A Look Back at the PTV 2017 Investors Meeting

Dear PTV Investors,

Thank you for joining us for the PTV 2017 Investors Meeting. In case we missed you this year, a brief summary of the meeting and key takeaways are recapped below.

1

Keynote Address – Bill George

This year we were incredibly excited to welcome Harvard Business School Professor and former Medtronic CEO Bill George as the Keynote Speaker.

In his hour-long talk before a room of investors and portfolio company executives as well as Austin entrepreneurs and UT Austin students, Mr. George shared his own journey to discover his true north and develop a servant leadership mentality based in authenticity and integrity.

“I think today it’s not about having followers,” said George. “I think it’s about empowering other people to be really great leaders of other people. Everyone who works for you should be a leader.”

We were also thrilled to have the opportunity to live-stream Mr. George’s talk for those who were unable to attend in person. For your enjoyment and convenience, we have included both the video and podcast versions of the Keynote below:

PTV Star of Texas Healthcare Award Honoring Dr. C. Richard Stasney
This year we were proud to honor Dr. C. Richard “Dick” Stasney as the 2017 Star of Texas Healthcare Award Winner in recognition of his outstanding contributions and service to the Texas healthcare community.

As President of Texas Ear, Nose and Throat Consultants and the Director of the Texas Voice Center, Dr. Stasney is a world-class otolaryngologist specializing in medical and surgical treatment of voice disorders. Over a luncheon in his honor he shared annecdotes from his storied career, from developing innovative treatments to star patients he’s helped along the way.

“We are so proud to be able to honor Dr. Stasney’s work over his incredible career,” said Managing Director Matt Crawford. “The 2017 Star of Texas could not go to a more deserving recipient.”

Congratulations to Dr. Stasney on this well deserved recognition!

Performance & Portfolio Updates

Before the main meeting PTV Limited Partners had the opportunity to sit down with the PTV Investment Team for a private, invitation-only breakfast to discuss fund and portfolio company performance updates for the year in an intimate and interactive setting.

Later, attendees heard from the CEOs of Apollo Endosurgery, Cardiva Medical, Intuity Medical, and Asuragen and had the opportunity to ask questions directly of the companies’ leadership. Matt Hewitt, a Senior Research Analyst at Craig Hallum Capital Group covering Apollo Endosurgery, was also on hand to discuss the obesity market and Apollo’s positioning to address the market potential.

Special Student Session with Bill George

While investors heard from our portfolio companies, Bill George held a special Q&A session with a hand selected group of Dell Medical School and McCombs MBA students from the University of Texas at Austin. In the 45 minute session the students asked in-depth questions about health reform, ethics, leadership, and how best to impact meaningful change in healthcare. It was an excellent opportunity to involve the community and help shape our future leaders in healthcare.

Thank you to all our attendees for their participation and our investors for their continued support.

Best,

The PTV Team
