PTV Healthcare Capital Launches New Video Series

‘Advice from the TOP’ to offer insight and advice to entrepreneurs

Austin, Texas – December 10, 2014 – PTV Healthcare Capital, a venture capital and growth equity firm, today launched a new video series, Advice from the TOP. The series will feature PTV CEOs and Senior Advisors as well as other industry thought leaders offering insight and advice to entrepreneurs in the healthcare industry and reflecting on their experiences partnering with PTV.

The first video of the new series features John Russell, CEO of PTV Portfolio Company Corventis, a pioneer in wearable, wireless technologies for cardiac disease, prior to its acquisition by Medtronic earlier this year. Russell has over 25 years’ experience in the cardiovascular medical device field and has held leadership positions in research and development, marketing, strategic planning, sales and general management. Prior to Corventis he was Vice President of US Sales for the Cardiac Rhythm Management division of Boston Scientific, responsible for a team of 1,300 professionals generating over $1.5 billion in annual sales revenue. He also served as General Manager for the LATITUDE Patient Management business at Guidant/Boston Scientific where he led that team in deploying the industry’s first wireless in-home patient monitoring system to over 80,000 patients.

In his Advice from the TOP, Russell offers his perspective on the greatest challenges faced by startup CEOs. He advises entrepreneurs, “Your two most precious things are time and capital.” Russell recommends that CEOs spend an inordinate amount of time upfront asking hard strategic questions – what they want to say about their product to patients, physicians, regulators, and payers. “[You have to] really start with the end in mind.”

“We agree with John that the most important asset of startup companies is the entrepreneur, and we strive to create value with every interaction,” said PTV Managing Director Rick Anderson. “The Advice from the TOP series is geared directly towards future PTV Portfolio entrepreneurs. It’s our goal to add value beyond the capital we invest.”

The Advice from the TOP series, which will release new videos monthly, can be found online on PTV’s website.
